I must say I was really shocked !
What the argument would one bring against recapturing of the lost visas ?
People who are in the line will eventually get their greencards although going through much more suffering. So from the point of view of anti/proimmigrants the amendment does not change anything in the long run.
If they were concenred about H-1Bs that part could be debated and split from the visa recapture issue.
I wander how would many answer inevitable questions from the press about word & dead discrepancies. Practivally everybody who opposed CIR claimed that they suppor legal immigration but do not want to encourage those who broke the law and came here illegaly. It's like a movie where the truth reveals in the most unexpected form.
Well at least they have shown their true faces now.

I just registered for IV. I wish I could come to DC rally on 18th. But due to certain unavoidable circumstances I may not be able too. Though not an excuse But I feel very guilty about it and this guilt will always remain there that I was not part of rally on 18th. hi,
In case you have a visa stamped on your passport (even if its expired ) give it to them, also talk to your loan agent at the bank and ask him to pass the details to the underwriter,loan agents dont understand the immigration intricacies but the underwriters do- it may take a few more days but eventually they will approve it.

And what makes all of you think that future applicants will come only from these 4 countries, they could come from Timbuktu fora ll you care and use up their fair share in EB category and you may not have the visas that you hope would be unused visas. Then what?????????

Just got the email that Card Production Ordered. I hope it means the GC has been approved. Do any of you know of any situation like this?

Repenting that i miised the chance, and should have applied at that time.
Even if you had applied then when single, no difference my friend.
One still needs to retain the H1 so their dependants could have the H4. So, until the dates open up again there is no end in sight for the other benefits such as EAD etc.
If it is any solace, you actually did not miss the boat!

Seems like there are more such cases - there is a news item on this topic yesterday on www.immigration-law.com with the title "10/23/2008: Increasing Customer Reports of Denial of AC-21 Ported I-485 Applications Without NOID by USCIS Upon Petitioner's Withdrawal of Approved I-140 Petitions"
Seems like they too dont know whether its related to untrained USCIS staff's mistake or some other issue.

First of all congratulations to ind_game.
Today I received NOID for not submitting AC21. My I-140 is not revoked. I received an RFE last month for birth certificate & updated g-325a form. In the g-325a form I mentioned my current employer which would have triggered NOID for AC21.
I left the GC sponsored employer after 9 years on May 2008 well after 180 days and joined an insurance company. The company got hammered by financial crises. So I left that company and joined other stable company on Dec 2009 as a full time employee.
My current job description is similar to the one mentioned on ETA but not same. I am not sure if changing 2 jobs will be a problem.
If anyone had submitted any documents for AC21 please share. I will really appreciate it.

I was able to convince a friend, who has been a green card holder for the past 5-6 years & never suffered the green card retrogression, to support us & contribute to our cause. Made a one time payment of 100$ through paypal.
Very thankful to my friend for having understood our problems & supporting without a flinch!!!!

IV does not need a change in leadership. We have a very effective leadership that is working hard behind the scenes to bring about a positive change to the community. If we have not been noticing major changes, it's due to the passive (chaltha hai chalne do) nature of our community, who don't even lift a finger to swat a fly, until and unless they receive a RFE/NOID/Rejection letter from the USCIS.
No change in leadership will bring about any change, unless the community changes it's mentality, raises above narcissism, and becomes actively involved in the movement. This requires a "person with the face", a person ready to expose himself as a leader of the movement to motivate others; subjecting himself/herself to death threats (and other threats) from anti-immigrant goons like ITGrunt and others. Our fearless Aman Kapoor has made that bold sacrifice for the ungrateful community which blames him for all our collective failures.
So before proposing a change in leadership, I request Mr. Bawa to post his personal picture in the IV profile and/or publish a YouTube video of his ideas for the movement ( just like Aman's video on Immigration Voice). I can't vote for a faceless leader hiding behind anonymity. I need a real life person with real ideas. Do we have such New fearless leaders in our community?

I believe the majority ofthe IV members are from Indian origins. they should contact the Indian community that donated money to Hilary and ask why she voted against legal immigrants. she is preparing for her election compaign. I am sure she will answer or at least she will know that we are following her votes against us.
