That gives me some hope..My PD is EB3 India Oct 2004...I am filing 485 now..hope I get GC in 2 years from now!!!!
I am sure you'll get GC by the end on this year or early next year. I might have called USCIS abt 15-20 times and from what I understand dates would retrogress for eb3 India, but not horribly. My guess in of the total applications in August 30% have older PD 02/03/04. Becuause pf PERM processing majority are 05/06/07.

I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.
Thanks a bunch
I went to NYC indian consulate got my passport renewed in a day! pretty easy but make u nostalgic abt standing line for cinema tickets!!!;)

What will happen to IV in next few months if every one gets GC? Will there be a Pappu / waldenpond / whoever? I am seeing today lots of people getting GC. I am happy for them.
Assume one day there are no backlogs and no country quota limit. What will be IVs agenda? I want to be active member of IV even after getting my GC helping the future immigrants. At least I say that now :)

You can check the dates on this link,
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp
Hope this helps,
Thanks for the link - the only issue is that the link reflects the processing as of Dec 14, 2007.
Is there a way to check on the dates they are processing at present. Can we call USCIS customer service regarding this information ?

I have a dumb question: when the above post refers to 25,000 EB2 and EB3 applications does it refer to 25,000 primary applicants or total (applicant and dependent) applications. Does anyone know? -- Thanks.
I think it means total.

Delays at DOL PERM Processing Center in Atlanta to End Soon!
Posted May 11, 2007
MurthyDotCom
A number of inquiries have come to us regarding delays in PERM labor certification case adjudication. Beginning early in 2007, there has been a noticeable slowing in case processing at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Atlanta Processing Center. This center is one of two locations where PERM labor certifications are adjudicated. The other location is in Chicago. This slow-down is a marked change from the generally fast PERM labor certification decisions that had become the norm.
MurthyDotCom
Personnel Reassigned to H2B Cases
MurthyDotCom
We at the Murthy Law Firm made inquiry about this matter, to gain some insight into why things had changed, and, of course, to determine how the situation might be improved. We were advised that personnel temporarily had been reallocated away from the PERM cases. The Atlanta Processing Center also processes temporary labor certifications needed in H2B cases. Due to demand and time constraints, personnel were diverted to work on the temporary labor certifications, which meant delays in the PERM labor certifications.
MurthyDotCom
Changes Expected in the Near Future
MurthyDotCom
Our sources indicate that the DOL adjudicators in Atlanta will be moved back to their regular responsibilities of processing PERM cases in the near future. Thus, PERM cases there should start moving again soon.

As far as I know the amendment is still a part of the Defense bill.
Sen Cornyn introduced it as an amendment to another bill on 19th (I dont remember the bill) in addition to the Defense bill and strictly speaking the motion to attach the amendment was rejected on the basis that it did not belong in that particular bill and not the amendment.
Texas Members - Would it possible to find out if Sen. Cornyn is planning to introduce the amendment again later this year?
Clearly, he has to work with Sen.Dick Durbin to gain support among the Democrats.

[You are relatively at peace because your PD is 2005 and you are in EB2.
Moreover since you are already filed 485 and its more than 6 months you are secure.
For rest the situation is precarious
As it relates to my green card application, my situation is relatively better than some. If you search my previous posts, you will note my similar expression of frustration a few months/years ago. I don't want to go into the details behind how justifiable my frustration felt at the time - those are facts that I can do nothing about.
So I gave up and quickly made plans to return to our homeland. I was lucky to have a moment of clarity about a month before pulling any triggers because shortly thereafter, I read Lance Armstrong's book - "It's Not About the Bike". "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl was another very inspring work for me. I have since read many books on similar subjects - some good and some not so good - but more importantly, I now believe, with all my heart, that how I feel is entirely up to me. Not only is it just up to me, I am 100% accountable for it.
I am not saying you shouldn't express your feelings or seek the comfort of friends when you want to. I am simply offering some details around what works for me and why I am not as frustrated as I once was.
My green card "struggle" - if you can call it that - no longer impedes my ability to enjoy this moment. There are more people-including children-facing far more significant challenges across all walks of life. I accept my green card situation for what it is. I work everyday on what I ought to be doing and strive to leave doubt and worry behind (per Huxley's age old advice). This works for me.
I would love nothing more for it to work for everyone.
Best,
Sunil

Since we are trying to address I-140 delays in general at TSC and NSC, can we just send a general letter to Ombudsman's office without specifying our case and DHS Form 7001 ?
This way it will turn out to be a letter campaign.
What do you think ?
My understanding is if you send a general letter, you will get a general response (standard template) from the Ombudsman's office. For that matter, you don't even have to send the general letter, because I will provide you with the response you can expect to receive from Ombudsman's office without the DHS Form 7001.
----------------------------------------------------------------
"
Thank you for your recent correspondence to the Office of the
Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman). I
appreciate your comments regarding I-140 processing at the Service
Centers. We are well aware of the processing delays at all of the
Service Centers. Currently the TSC is processing I-140 applications
received in July 2007. USCIS has taken steps to address the processing
delays, but their efforts have not come about swiftly. We are
continuing to review and address this issue.
Under the authority of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the CIS
Ombudsman assists individuals and employers who experience specific
problems during the USCIS benefits seeking process, largely to identify
problems and to formulate recommendations to improve the USCIS service.
Please see our website for more information about the CIS Ombudsman
(www.dhs.gov/cisombudsman/).
I believe that first hand information from individuals like you is the
best source for identifying systemic problems in the immigration
benefits process. My office will consider the information you provided
as we develop recommendations to improve USCIS' practices and
procedures.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact my office, and for
giving me the opportunity to serve you. I look forward to the day when I
can report that the work of this office has been accomplished because
our vision of a world-class immigration benefits system has been
achieved. Your contribution takes us a step closer to reaching this
goal.
Office of the Ombudsman
-------------------------------------------------------
Please don't get me wrong. All I am trying to emphasize is the DHS Form 7001 is absolutely necessary if you want them to investigate the problem and see for themselves if what we are complaining about is indeed true. You stand a chance that they may take steps to address this problem. If not, it is just waste of time and effort. There is nothing to fear by providing the case details to Ombudsman's office. There are people who have sued USCIS due to the delays and have won their cases....so why fear when all you are doing is requesting USCIS to process our cases in orderly manner.
So please take the time to mail the letter & the completed DHS Form 7001 to the ombudsman's office.

AILA has reported a very interesting or confusing DOS LegalNet Office letter which one of the members received towards the fact that the consular posts had already been allocated their numbers for the month of July prior to EB visa numbers becoming unavailable on July 2 and that the posts may continue to use their July allocations of EB numbers, and continue to issue Immigrant Visas for the rest of this month, July, for those applicants who were scheduled for IV interviews in July. Wow, there you go! How come it becomes 'stupid' when a girl spends husband's money to support her parents?
Did I even say this? What are you saying? Go see a shrink :D
Read first what I said.
Stop sending money to parents and in-laws, if its possible. Otherwise, maintain parity by sending money in small amounts to both parents. Its stupid to say my wife is not working so she has no business to send money to her parents. Its so wrong and I'm surprised folks can think like this. Marriage is about sharing and even a child will tell you that. If the in-laws are any sensible they won't accept gifts from the son-in-law but its for them to decide. And stop receiving any gifts from either sides.

nothing will happen without extra GC numbers. we must fight for recapture and exemption. this move seems much too incredible to me. there are a few spillover numbers and a very large number of people waiting from 04-06. ther is no way these people are all (or even most) getting a GC in the short term.
we will end up seeing some random approvals and a lot of heartburn from many others. I truly wonder what is going on.....

Alright Guys, Let's ignore this Dard-e-disco guy he doesn't deserve a second of our time. To answer your question, one thing atleast USCIS can give us is, Release data like How many applications they have already received from Major Green Card Seeking countries and in which EB categories. All this data they would have entered in their computers, They can easily run these kind of reports, I'm sure they'll be having some Data Warehousing softwares. So atleast everybody of know where we stand today and stop predicting cut-off dates etc. etc.
They can also make sure they send our APs and EADs in less than 90 days....
As Ron Gotcher observed, they are still using DOS ( not department of state ! ) programs .
